LCW’s Movement City Youth Network (MC) supports youth between the ages of 10 and 18 in exploring their own potential and influencing the future of Lawrence, through a dynamic array of creative arts, academic support, and leadership development opportunities during afterschool hours. The primary responsibility of the volunteer mentor is to provide academic, leadership and creative support for youth in a 1-1 or small group setting.
We are currently seeking college aged/adult volunteer mentors to assist youth between the ages of 10-18 with tutoring in one or more of the following subjects: Math (Geometry, Algebra, Calculus), Science (Biology, Chemistry, Physics), English (Reading, Writing), and History. This is an ideal opportunity for individuals who are interested in and passionate about education, working with youth, and creative expression.
***College credit may be arranged in advance for tutoring and education enrichment activities. If you will be seeking college credit for participation in our youth tutoring/mentoring component, please make arrangements with your college or university before submitting a volunteer mentor application to LCW.
