Movement City joined forces with the staff of Power800 Radio to conduct a local toy drive to benefit the in-need youth and families of Lawrence.
The event took place on Saturday, December 20th from 10am-3pm at the McDonald’s located at 50 Broadway, Lawrence.
Movement City is the creative youth empowerment component of the Lawrence Community Works Network, and provides a safe space for children between the ages of 10-18. With the local community’s help, they are hoping to provide youth members and their siblings with holiday gifts and to bring a bit of cheerful relief to some of the families currently struggling financially.
The fundraisers asked the community for donations of new, unwrapped gifts. On-site, Power800 Radio conducted raffles of gift cards during the event and McDonald’s gave away free dessert coupons to everyone who donated a toy.
David Yee, owner of McDonald’s always cooperates with community groups and he has found a perfect partner in Power800 Radio. “It is encouraging seeing how people get together and assist in times of need.”
