Resources for Non-Profits & Community Groups
Online Grant Research Center now FREE!
Dear Nonprofit EDs,
I have been collaborating with the Executive Director of a nonprofit in NJ called VolunteerConnect and she has notified me that during the Coronavirus pandemic, we are able to access the Foundation Center database for free! Typically there is a very hefty fee to be able to do this (unless you visit the Grant Resource Center at NECC, which is now closed).
The Foundation Directory lists all the foundations making grants and can be sorted by the area of interest (ie. food, arts, youth, etc.), location that the grants are generally made to and the typical amount given by the funder.
TO ACCESS:
-
Visit their site (njstatelib.org/fundinginfo)
-
Then, simply click the link for FDO Essential. No log-in is required.
I tried it and it works!

GRANT: Essex County COVID-19 Response Fund
-
For questions or to discuss your proposal, please contact Carol Lavoie Schuster at c.lavoieschuster@eccf.org.
-
In March 2020, ECCF launched the Essex County COVID-19 Response Fund to address the most pressing needs of vulnerable and disadvantaged populations in the region due to the impacts of the COVID-19 pandemic. By design, the grants during the initial Crisis Relief and Mitigation phase (April – June) were rapid, unrestricted, and responsive to address basic needs. Areas of impact included: hunger, emergency shelter, elderly, disabled populations, emergency childcare, healthcare, mental health, financial relief aid distribution, and food for summer youth programs.
-
On July 1, 2020, ECCF will expand funding in an Open Application cycle to provide funding to nonprofits serving the most vulnerable and insecure residents who remain in crisis and are beginning to recover from the COVID19 health crisis and its economic impact.
